Executive Director – Aiken Corporation

The Aiken Corporation is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead our mission of advancing economic development, fostering community partnerships, and driving investment in the City of Aiken. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on one of South Carolina’s most vibrant communities. The salary of the Executive Director will range between $95,000 to $120,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do

As Executive Director, you’ll wear many hats—strategist, connector, property manager, community advocate, and organizational leader.

Board & Organizational Leadership

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to shape and execute strategic initiatives.

  • Manage Board meetings, agendas, and communication.

  • Translate Board insights into actionable strategies that deliver results.

Property & Financial Management

  • Oversee rental property operations, including tenant relations, lease management, and capital planning.

  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring strong financial stewardship.

  • Prepare financial and performance reports to keep stakeholders informed.

  • Actively market and promote the use of the first floor of the mixed-use facility.

Economic & Community Development

  • Serve as an economic development strategist, creating initiatives that attract new businesses and support local entrepreneurs.

  • Manage the Revolving Loan Fund, including reviewing applications and ensuring compliance.

  • Represent Aiken Corp at City Council meetings, summits, and community events.

  • Build partnerships with local, regional, and state development agencies.

  • Pursue grants and funding opportunities to expand organizational impact.

Marketing & Communications

  • Lead the organization’s digital presence through the website, newsletters, and social media.

  • Share Aiken Corp’s story through press releases and media engagement.

  • Ensure timely, strategic communications on community and city initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and execute both short- and long-term strategic plans.

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit and governmental regulations.

  • Build and maintain an efficient, transparent, and impactful organization.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.

  • Preferred: Background in property management, real estate, finance, insurance, marketing, business development, accounting, economic development, nonprofit leadership, or urban planning.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across business, government, and community sectors.

  • A strategic thinker who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to get the work done.
